Why you should visit...

Galapagos

In addition to getting to see and interact with so many animals in their natural environment, the Galapagos Islands are also just flat-out beautiful.

Why We Love It:

The Galapagos Islands are an Archipelago off the coast of Ecuador, famous as the inspiration for Darwin’s theory of evolution. The animals here have evolved not to fear predators because there are no natural predators around. This dynamic leads to a fascinating environment where humans have the ability to interact with animals in the wild, on a level like possibly nowhere else on earth.

In addition to getting to see and interact with so many animals in their natural environment, the Galapagos Islands are also just flat-out beautiful. You can snorkel, scuba dive, take boat trips, or just chill on the beach. It is truly one of the world’s most special destinations but, unfortunately, many people are deterred by the perceived cost of exploring these strange islands. Yes, it is on the more expensive side but it can be done on more of a budget than many realize. Backpackers, don’t be scared off!
